It is a time of great uncertainty in the world. No matter what your situation in life, HIV/AIDS affects all of us in one way or another.

It is a time of great uncertainty in the world. No matter what your situation in life, HIV/AIDS affects all of us in one way or another. But for those facing a debilitating health crisis – such as HIV or AIDS or any unrelated medical issue, everyday can be daunting. Without the often support of many social service organizations such as the Center for AIDS Prevention, case management, and health care providers, or the support of friends and family, many would find themselves alone, rejected and destitute.

With your help the Center for AIDS Prevention (CAP) is able to reach out to thousands of individuals in need of assistance with hundreds of HIV/AIDS and family service organizations that provide an essential social safe haven. This is done in ways unique to many, such as our many but no less important fundraising efforts like direct mail, major and corporate support. Each one is essential and, in ways large and small they compliment each other.

But I must single out the ongoing, generous commitment of our staff and volunteers who worked tirelessly everyday to support the many infected and affected people who in many cases would have no one else to turn to for assistance or direction.

I would also like to thank those of you who are not part of the HIV/AIDS social service community, but who join in either as contributor with your individual support, or who is part of our corporate sponsorship community. You are an essential part and most welcome member of the CAP fundraising family

The Center for AIDS Prevention (CAP) role in the health of our community is clearer than it has ever been. What we accomplish this year will have a meaningful impact on those in need. I hope that you will continue to offer your support or be moved to join us in our quest to make a difference.

Best Wishes,
Steve Neely
Executive Director

I lost my son to AIDS and wrote a true story of him and two friends, growing up together, each acquiring AIDS and each dying. Entitled "The Brothers Three". It depicts their suffering and explains the trauma caused to them and family members. It is a heartbreaking story but brings the realization of AIDS to the surface. On the WEB you will find a summary of them under my name, Lola Lambert.

I lost my son my best friend to aids 4 years 3 months and 20 days ago a part of me died that day. He always told people I was his hero and best friend, but the true is he was my hero. He had wrote me a poem ole to mom thanking me for not judging him and always standing by him. He asked me one day why I had not disowned him when he told me he was gay ?? He said so many of his friends families did not want them any more I told him he was part of me it was not up to me to judge anyone and if any of his friends needed a mother I would be there for them.
I guess what I am trying to say if I can volunteer in any why let me know.

A World Without HIV/AIDS May Be Closer Than You Think

Plot Summary: In 'House of Numbers,' an AIDS film like no other, the HIV/AIDS story is being rewritten. This is the first film to present the uncensored POVs of virtually all the major players; in their own settings, in their own words. It ROCKS the foundation upon which all conventional wisdom regarding HIV/AIDS is based. 'House of Numbers' could well be the opening volley in a battle to bring sanity and clarity to an epidemic gone awry.

I keep reading all this negative stuff about your organization and I am confused. It looks like you are doing really good work to help people but alot of people say that this is all a scam. Why do they say that?

Hi Kathy. We feel that it may be a little jealousy. However, some good points were made regarding the information on the website not being current and we immediately corrected those concerns and we are taking addtional steps to keep our source of information more reliable and current. The Center for AIDS Prevention admire the work that the Los Angeles AIDS community has done and we offer our help in any way possible. It is not our intention to offend anyone, only a necessary way to get the public attention for a cause that is totally worthwhile. There is no scam, very limited funds have been raised so far and all of our staff and directors including myself are non paid volunteers.

Yours sincerely,

Steve Neely
Executive Director

I've had 3 people in my family die of Aids; currently my brother 38 is now dying of Aids. It's heart breaking and is a catastrophic atrophy nationwide. Please do what you can to help.
