CAP Programs, Events And Campaigns

Help Stop AIDS: “Education Is Prevention, For Life.”

The Center for AIDS Prevention (CAP) has developed dynamic public awareness, education and prevention programs built around our slogan; “Help Stop AIDS: Education Is Prevention, For Life”.

The purpose of each CAP program is to educate the general public about the risks of HIV/AIDS and what can be done for prevention. Public donations are the main source of funding for CAP. Of every dollar received twenty percent (20%) is used to support operational expenses and eighty percent (80%) is used to support CAP awareness, education and prevention programs, events and campaigns.

CAP Interactive Website Initiative: (CAP On-line Awareness Program)

The CAP On-line Awareness Program is a major initiative to use state-of-the- art communications technologies to educate the general public about HIV/AIDS, prevention and how to give support. www.centerforaidsprevention.org is the home page of our interactive website where the general public can gain access to general information about HIV/AIDS and prevention, answers of frequently asked questions about HIV/AIDS and prevention, a link HIV/AIDS Rapid Testing and to other organizations and agencies in the HIV/AIDS education, prevention, medical and research communities. The website also offers access to HIV/AIDS information through a confidential email subscription to our free monthly CAP eNewsletter.

CAP Preventing Mother To Child Transmission Initiative: (CAP Maternity Awareness Program)

The CAP Maternity Awareness Program is a major initiative to place more information about the transmission HIV/AIDS and prevention in the hands of pregnant women and in maternity wards and medical centers throughout the United States. The goal of the program is to help more transmission prevention services and information to reach HIV infected women who are pregnant or preparing to give birth. CAP supports this program by providing HIV/AIDS prevention pamphlets to new and expecting moms throughout hospitals and clinics nationwide.

CAP Education Is Prevention Youth Initiative: (CAP Youth Awareness Program)

The CAP Youth Awareness Program is a major initiative to educate youth about the risk, dangers and prevention of HIV/AIDS. The goal of the program is to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS to younger generations through education media that targets youth. Media channels include various forms of print, radio, television, dvd, http, pcs, forums and events. Throughout the 2008-2009 Los Angeles Clippers NBA basketball season, CAP delivered HIV/AIDS information pamphlets with success education books to hundreds of at risk students from both the City of Los Angeles and the City of Inglewood school districts.

CAP Community Groups And Events Initiative: (CAP Groups Awareness Program)

The CAP Groups Awareness Program is a major initiative to deliver information and education about HIV/AIDS and prevention to targeted groups and communities. The goal of the program is to deliver information and preventive services to communities and special interest groups through forums, seminars, expos, festivals and special events. In March 2009, CAP was recently the “Charity Of Choice” for two of the most popular car shows in the world, (HIN) Hot Import Nights at Angels Stadium and (DUB) DUB Magazine Custom Auto Show & Concert at the LA Convention Center. Each show attracted over 25,000 attendees. CAP was the only HIV/AIDS organization on-hand to answer questions and distribute literature.

Dear Mr. Neely,

Thank you so much for your generous contribution of $2474 to Joy2theWorld.org. This will pay for the flight arrangements for our team to travel to Ghana as they represent Joy2theWorld.

Your contribution will impact the villages during our August, 2008 trip to Medie, Ghana. As you know, in addition to the microloans we are providing, Joy2theWorld will be drilling a clean water well in Medie during this specific trip.

Thank you again for your contribution. We will always be grateful.

Regards,
Kathleen Gibbs
Director, Joy2theWorld

Please note: Joy2theWorld is an affiliate of WomensTrust, Inc. and is a 501(c)(3). This letter serves as your receipt for tax purposes. It confirms that no goods or services have been granted in exchange for this gift.

Dear Center for AIDS Prevention,

Valentine’s Day is about telling special people in your life how much they mean to you. That’s why we are sending this email to our UN Foundation community to say thank you for your support.

It’s difficult to express our gratitude for your support—but because a picture is worth a thousand words, we wanted you to see one place where your support is making an enormous difference, literally saving lives.

These pictures show our Children’s Health team at work. We work in partnership with the Measles Initiative to help children under five by providing measles vaccinations, de-worming medication and vitamin A supplements. We’ve found this to be the most effective and efficient health-care delivery system and have tacked on long-lasting insecticide-treated bed nets to protect against malaria in Africa.

The UN Foundation’s Nothing but Nets Campaign recently delivered 133,000 long-lasting insecticide-treated bed nets to the West African country of Mali in conjunction with the Measles Initiative. This was the largest children's health campaign in Mali’s history and now more than 2.8 million children are sleeping under bed nets to protect them from malaria.

Let’s spend this Valentine’s Day reflecting on the good we have done together. Have a look for yourself and thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Your Friends at the UN Foundation
